About ACCBP

Advocate for Healthy Homes

We started ACC Building Performance performance because sick homes are creating sick families and most of those families have no idea that's what's happening to them.

The Story

How This Work Began

AJ spent more than a decade in the HVAC industry, exposed daily to conditions many consider normal, until his own health crisis forced him to see things differently. After years of working in attics, crawlspaces, and homes in South Louisiana, AJ became gravely ill and was eventually diagnosed with epilepsy. His health declined to the point that he sold his HVAC company and began searching for answers.

What he eventually learned saved his life and changed everything.

Years of exposure to contaminated HVAC systems, combined with hidden mold and construction deficiencies in his own home, were affecting his health. Still, the issue was not obvious on the surface. It took a building science perspective to help his family identify what was happening in their home, why it was happening, and what needed to be done so the problem would not return.

That experience became the foundation for ACC Building Performance.

AJ brings more than professional training or education to his work. He brings decades of field experience, personal experience, and a firsthand understanding of what is at stake when buildings fail. He understands that many building-related problems are missed because they are not being evaluated as part of a whole system. ACCBP was built to help others get the answers AJ and his family once needed: an honest, whole-home investigation and solutions that make your home healthy.

What Drives This Work

This Is Personal

This work is personal because AJ knows what it feels like to be sick, misdiagnosed, dismissed, and left asking questions no one seems able to answer. He knows what it is like to be told everything looks normal, and continue living in a home that is quietly working against your health and healing. He understands the physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual weight families carry when they know something is wrong but cannot find someone who can connect the dots.

That experience changed how AJ sees buildings, HVAC systems, moisture, mold, indoor air quality, and the conditions that are often accepted as normal in the industry.

What once looked routine is now unacceptable.

By the grace of God, and through the support of functional medicine and a better understanding of his environment, AJ has now been seizure-free for more than five years. His recovery reshaped his mission.

ACC Building Performance exists to help others find answers, understand their environment, and gain hope that healing is possible. The goal is not to sell another service or offer a quick fix. The goal is to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what needs to change so the building can become a safer, healthier place to live, work, and thrive.

What You Can Expect

What It's Like to Work With AJ

AJ is direct. He won't minimize what he finds, and he won't soften findings to make them easier to hear. If your home has a serious problem, he'll tell you, and he'll explain exactly what it means and what needs to happen about it.

He is also deeply human about this work. He understands that the people who call him are often exhausted, financially strained, and emotionally raw. Every phone call, assessment, and report is delivered with the same commitment: to give you the truth, in plain language, in a way that actually helps you move forward.

No runaround. No generic recommendations. No upsells on things you don't need. Just the honest answer your home, and your family, deserves.

The answer is almost always there. It's just that the right person hasn't looked for it yet.
